Glass Processing & Distribution

St Pancras Station, London

This large project, run by a consortium of companies, began in 2004. Façade System Engineering Ltd won the roof glazing contract and split the work into two projects.

The first project was North Light Glazing. This was a new extension for which Solaglas provided approximately 7,500m2 of 8.8mm laminated glass over a 2 year period.

The second part of the project, Ridge and Furrow (shown in the photographs), incorporated approximately 10,000m2 of 6.8mm laminated glass. In total Solaglas supplied over 17,000 pieces of glass to this part of the project, all shaped. 16,000 were parallelograms. These had different orientations (50% left handed and 50% right handed) and were not perfect parallelograms (there was a variance of 1-2mm). Each piece of glass therefore had to be carefully tracked during manufacture and delivery and individually stamped in a particular location.
